Job Title: Director, Human Resources
Location: Remote (based in California or Texas)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: ~30% (up to 50% during initial 4–6 month ramp-up)
Compensation: $210,000 – $225,000 base + up to 10% annual bonus
The Director, Human Resources will serve as a senior HR business leader supporting two critical regions within a global, publicly traded enterprise (10,000+ employees). This role is responsible for driving the full spectrum of HR strategy and execution for a population of approximately 500 employees across multiple U.S. locations, with periodic international engagement.
This individual will operate at both a strategic and operational level—partnering closely with senior leadership to align human capital strategies with business objectives, while maintaining a strong, hands-on presence within field operations. The role requires a leader who is adept at navigating complex, matrixed environments and can influence across multiple levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR business partner to regional leadership, aligning HR strategies with business priorities and operational goals
- Lead and execute HR initiatives across two regions spanning multiple states, within a highly matrixed, enterprise environment
- Provide leadership and development to a team of 4–5 HR professionals, fostering a high-performance, accountable culture
- Drive organizational effectiveness through talent management, succession planning, and leadership development
- Lead employee engagement and retention strategies across a distributed workforce in operationally intensive environments
- Partner with leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, and change management initiatives
- Oversee talent acquisition strategy and execution, maintaining a hands-on approach to critical hiring needs
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as regulatory requirements tied to government contracts
- Support HR governance and practices consistent with public company standards, including policy alignment and risk mitigation
- Maintain a strong field presence through regular travel to build relationships and ensure alignment across sites
Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a significant portion in large-scale, global enterprises (10,000+ employees preferred)
- 5–7+ years of leadership experience managing HR teams in multi-site, multi-state environments
- Proven success operating at the Director level, supporting regional or multi-regional business units
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership within a complex, matrixed organizational structure
- Experience supporting business units or divisions of 500+ employees within a larger enterprise framework
- Strong background in publicly traded companies, with understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management practices
- Experience within industrial, manufacturing, distribution, Warehouse, or similarly operational environments
- Working knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements, including experience supporting government contract-driven businesses
- Proven track record leading organizational change, transformation, and scaling initiatives
- Deep expertise in employee relations, engagement, performance management, and leadership coaching
- Experience leading or directly overseeing talent acquisition strategies in competitive labor markets
- Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to translate business needs into effective HR solutions

- Based in California or Texas
- Willingness to travel approximately 30%, with increased travel (up to 50%) during initial onboarding period
- Ability to travel across multiple U.S. locations and internationally (Europe and Asia, as needed)
- Experience operating within a non-union environment
- Demonstrated agility and ability to lead through ambiguity and change
- Highly engaged, visible leader with a strong executive presence and relationship-building capability across all levels
