Vice President, HR Business Partner — New York
We are seeking an experienced and strategic HR Business Partner at the VP level to join a fast-paced, high-performing Human Resources team at a leading financial services firm in New York. Reporting to a Senior Director of HR, this is a highly visible, hands-on role that spans the full spectrum of HR business partnering responsibilities.
About the Role
This VP will serve as a trusted partner to business leaders and managers across the organization, supporting everything from day-to-day employee relations to firmwide talent initiatives. The ideal candidate is someone who can operate both strategically and tactically — equally comfortable advising senior leaders on complex employee matters and rolling up their sleeves to manage trackers, build presentations, and execute processes with precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end performance management cycle, including mid-year and year-end reviews, promotions, and talent calibration
- Partner with managers to address underperformance, develop and execute improvement plans, and ensure consistent, well-documented application of HR policies
- Manage all aspects of attrition, turnover, and retention tracking, providing regular updates to department and executive leadership
- Handle employee relations matters including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions, while proactively identifying issues that impact culture and engagement
- Oversee new hire integration through structured 30- and 60-day check-in programs and manage 360 feedback processes
- Support Business Resource Group programming and annual event calendars
- Contribute to firmwide HR initiatives, change management efforts, and cross-functional collaborations with teams such as Marketing and Technology
- Build PowerPoint presentations and proposals for senior leadership and assist with ad-hoc reporting as needed
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of HR experience, preferably within financial services, with a demonstrated track record in employee relations, performance management, and HR project execution.
They are analytical, highly organized, and skilled at managing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with sound judgment and discretion.
Workday HRIS experience is a plus.
