Role Overview
The HR Director will be responsible for shaping and executing HR initiatives that drive recruitment, remuneration and benefits (including payroll), employee engagement, and wellbeing. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on HR expertise, with a focus on compliance across Illinois and Iowa. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and adaptability, while also contributing to the wider group HR agenda.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Design and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent across both Chicago and Davenport.
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure a seamless and inclusive recruitment process.
Remuneration, Benefits & Payroll
- Oversee compensation frameworks, benefits programs, and payroll operations.
- Benchmark pay structures to ensure competitiveness and compliance with
- Illinois and Iowa regulations.
- Drive initiatives that balance financial sustainability with employee satisfaction.
Engagement & Wellbeing
- Lead programs that enhance employee engagement, wellbeing, and retention.
- Build upon our already globally leading levels of employee engagement, ensuring the people elements of business growth are front and center.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on employee relations and organizational health.
Group Collaboration & People Agenda
- Work closely with the wider HR team based in the UK, contributing to the overall group people agenda.
- Share best practices and align local initiatives with global HR strategy.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure HR policies and practices align with state and federal employment laws in Illinois and Iowa.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualification in HR - SHRM
- Proven HR leadership experience, ideally at Director level, within Illinois and Iowa.
- Strong expertise in recruitment, compensation, benefits, and payroll management.
- Demonstrated success in leading engagement and people-focused growth initiatives.
- Excellent knowledge of employment law and compliance frameworks across both states.
- Experience working as part of a global HR team, contributing to group-level strategy.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to travel regularly between Chicago and Davenport as part of hybrid working arrangements.
