Compensation: $150,000–$170,000 annually
Job Summary:
The Director of Human Resources & Administration provides strategic and operational leadership across Human Resources and Corporate Administration, supporting a growing, multi-state workforce. This role partners closely with senior leadership to build a modern, compliant, and scalable people strategy, leveraging HR technology, data, and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency and the employee experience. The Director oversees core HR and administrative functions while leading and developing a collaborative team in a fast-evolving environment focused on continuous improvement, engagement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and hands-on leadership across all human resources functions, including employee relations, benefits, compensation, talent acquisition, performance management, training, and compliance.
- Oversee administration of employee benefits programs (medical, dental, life, 401(k), PTO, LOA), ensuring cost effectiveness, competitiveness, and regulatory compliance, including ACA requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook in alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Monitor wage and salary market data and conduct comprehensive compensation analyses at least every two years to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
- Lead recruitment and talent strategy in partnership with HR leadership, including workforce planning, succession planning, retention strategies, and management of external recruiters and staffing agency relationships.
- Oversee employee engagement initiatives, including annual surveys, and present actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with HR-related audits, reporting requirements, and data accuracy across systems.
- Advise management on employee relations matters, investigations, disciplinary actions, and employment-related risk mitigation.
- Manage employment-based and business travel visa and immigration documentation, including I-94, DS-156, DS-156E, I-140, I-129, invitation letters, passport renewals, and related documents.
- Lead, coach, and develop the HR team by setting annual goals, monitoring performance, and ensuring timely and effective execution of deliverables.
- Leverage HRIS, payroll platforms, applicant tracking systems, benefits platforms, and AI-enabled tools to enhance HR operations, analytics, and reporting.
- Oversee company-wide safety programs, including OSHA compliance, Injury and Illness Prevention Plans (IIPP), and Workplace Violence Prevention Programs, and partner with leadership to promote a safe, compliant, and respectful workplace culture.
- Direct the process for obtaining and maintaining all required business licenses, permits, and bonds.
- Oversee corporate contracts and agreements, ensuring proper documentation, record retention, and coordination with legal counsel as needed, and manage all corporate insurance programs, including health, workers’ compensation, property, liability, auto, cargo, warehouse, and other commercial coverages.
- Lead insurance renewals, claims management, and cost-control initiatives across the organization, and design, implement, and manage cost-effective corporate programs related to utilities, communications, fleet leasing, fuel, and other administrative services.
- Oversee the company auto fleet leasing program and fuel program.
- Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP), including testing, updates, and employee training, and manage and supervise Administration staff to ensure efficient and compliant business operations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred)
- Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience, with a proven track record in an HR management role.
- SPHR or SHRM-SCP professional certification
- Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, benefits administration, compensation, talent acquisition, compliance, and HR strategy.
- Experience in risk management, including oversight of complex insurance programs and claims.
- Familiarity with workplace safety programs, regulatory compliance, and business continuity planning.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS, payroll systems, benefits platforms, ATS, and learning management systems.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with proven leadership ability and a collaborative, hands-on management style.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications, with a commitment to continuous learning and adoption of modern HR best practices, including emerging technologies.
- Must be able to travel as required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, work on a computer for prolonged durations, and occasionally lift up to 24 pounds.
