Foran Glennon Palandech Ponzi & Rudloff PC, an international firm with ten offices, is a fast-paced insurance defense litigation law firm seeking a full-time, experienced HR Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be a proactive, driven and compassionate HR professional with multi-state employment experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage all human resource functions, on/off boarding, benefits & 401K(k) enrollment, COBRA, time/attendance tracking, state-mandated training, employee relations, performance management, annual state bar licensing reporting/renewal, and conflict resolution.
• Stay up to date on relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry best practices, ensuring the firm's HR policies as well as the employee handbook and practices are in compliance.
• Act as an authorized administrator of the Firm’s 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan. Approves loans, rollovers, withdrawals, and required distributions. Coordinate annual 401(k) audit and annual 5500 filing with outside auditor and ERISA attorney
• Serve as a point of contact for employees to address their concerns and conflicts.
• Assist with investigations and resolve employee issues, ensuring fair and consistent application of firm policies and procedures.
• Assist with the performance management process, including staff compensation, setting performance goals, conducting evaluations, and providing feedback to employees.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
• Review/respond to annual, mandated USDOL/BLS surveys.
• Assist with negotiations/maintenance/renewal of benefit plans, business insurance policies, and vendor contracts.
• Design and implement employee training programs and professional development opportunities.
• Plan, organize, and execute staff and firm events (occasional).
• Implement established budgets and proactively manage expenses.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Human Resources.
• HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices in a multi-state environment.
• Solid problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and effective in prioritizing responsibilities to meet completing deadlines while balancing multiple responsibilities.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
• High proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); iManage experience preferred.
• Prior law firm experience.
• 3-5 years’ experience as an HR Manager.
Compensation & Benefits:
The compensation available for the role considers a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual skill set, previous/applicable experience, and other business needs. The estimated base salary range is up to $75,000-90,000 annually.
