About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing building materials supplier with approximately 200 employees across multiple states, is seeking a Human Resources Director to lead the company's people strategy during an exciting phase of expansion.
This role represents a pivotal shift from a tactical HR function to a strategic business partner. The HR Director will design and implement scalable systems for talent acquisition, culture, performance management, learning and development, succession planning, and total rewards. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking, empathetic leader who can balance high-level strategy with hands-on execution in a blue-collar, fast-paced environment.
Role Summary & Purpose
The Human Resources Director will lead and evolve the company's HR function to support growth across multiple business units and locations. This leader will build people systems that strengthen the organization's culture, attract and develop top talent, and create a foundation for sustainable expansion. Success in this role requires strong business acumen, emotional intelligence, and the ability to influence and partner effectively with executives and frontline leaders alike.Key
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a people strategy aligned with business goals and long-term growth objectives.
- Design and implement scalable HR processes, including performance management, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Lead talent acquisition efforts across executive, managerial, and technical roles to build a strong leadership pipeline and workforce bench.
- Oversee compensation and benefits design, benchmarking, and competitive analysis to ensure market alignment and internal equity.
- Manage employee relations, policy development, and compliance to mitigate risk and maintain a consistent, legally compliant framework.
- Build and oversee learning and development initiatives that promote professional growth, leadership readiness, and skills enhancement.
- Champion company culture, diversity and inclusion, and employee engagement across all locations and entities.
- Align HR operations across multiple business units while respecting the unique needs of local teams and workforces.
- Lead change management initiatives that support organizational restructuring, expansion, and continuous improvement.
- Leverage HR systems, analytics, and metrics to inform decisions, measure effectiveness, and guide strategic priorities.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or director-level capacity.
- Experience managing HR across multi-state or multi-entity organizations, ideally within manufacturing, distribution, or building materials sectors.
- Proven success transforming HR from an administrative function to a strategic business partner.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law, HR compliance, compensation, and benefits design.
- Demonstrated proficiency with HR systems, analytics, and metrics-driven decision making.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and influencing skills with the ability to build trust at all levels.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or HR certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.
