Summary
Based in Houston, TX, reporting to the SVP of Corporate & Strategy, the HR Manager will oversee all HR functions for a Japanese energy company, including recruitment, expatriate services, benefits, employee relations, compensation, performance management, compliance, and policy development. The role focuses on building a positive company culture, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic HR initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding – Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding processes, and retention goals.
- Benefits & Compensation – Oversee benefits programs, payroll accuracy, merit/bonus processes, and competitive compensation strategies.
- Performance & Development – Lead performance reviews, succession planning, and training initiatives.
- Employee Relations & Engagement – Handle employee issues, foster engagement, and maintain a positive workplace culture.
- HR Policies & Systems – Develop/update policies, maintain HRIS accuracy, and ensure secure records management.
- Compliance & Risk Management – Ensure legal compliance, manage workplace safety, workers’ comp, and risk mitigation.
- Management Advisory & Metrics – Provide HR reports, insights, and recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years HR management experience; experience with Japanese companies in the U.S. highly desirable.
- HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- Strong skills in talent acquisition, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, and cross-cultural communication.

Compensation
- Salary range $150K-(DOE) with full benefits (health insurance, 401(k), PTO, professional development).
