Acclaimed New York City-based restaurant group Quality Branded (Don Angie, Bad Roman, Quality Meats) comes to Los Angeles with the second location of a smash success Midtown Manhattan restaurant concept. Quality Branded has sustained success in Manhattan and Denver over the past 20+ years; restaurateur Michael Stillman and the team are thrilled to add a buzzy, maximalist restaurant to the lively Beverly Hills neighborhood.
Bad Roman LA is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our team! Our HRMs oversee all HR functions in the restaurant, working closely with the Quality Branded Corporate HR team. They are responsible for HR administrative functions including new hire onboarding, employee lifecycle, employee relations, worker's comp + leaves of absence, benefits administration, and overall compliance and accountability to the company handbook. The HRM needs to be organized, meticulous and have a great eye for detail.
This position is onsite at the restaurant 100% of their scheduled time, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities: Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
HRIS Management
● Administer and maintain Paid Time Off (PTO) tracking and reporting.
● Manage tip declaration worksheets, as applicable to business needs.
● Oversee day-to-day operations of ADP, including updates and troubleshooting.
● Maintain and document employee records and notes in HRIS.
Employee Relations
● Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters within assigned restaurant(s).
● Lead employee relations investigations in coordination with the HR Director.
● Manage and execute progressive discipline procedures in alignment with company policy and employment law.
● Oversee, respond to, and escalate as needed your location(s) HR email inbox.
Recruitment & Employee Lifecycle
● Lead full-cycle non-exempt recruitment, including job postings, interviewing, and extending offers in conjunction with hiring managers.
● Support exempt recruitment in collaboration with hiring managers.
Post open roles on Culinary Agents and other recruitment platforms.
● Assist with performance management processes, including reviews and documentation.
Benefits Administration
● Facilitate Open Enrollment at the restaurant level and ensure 100% completion across employee population.
● Complete and submit required forms for all employee leaves (FMLA, PFL, DBL) with the HRD
● Coordinate the workplace accommodations process in compliance with legal standards.
● Manage Workers' Compensation claims and communication with relevant parties.
Onboarding, Offboarding & Compliance
● Conduct comprehensive onboarding for new hires, ensuring timely system access and integration (Makeshift, timeclock, building access).
● Order new hire materials, including business cards and uniforms as needed.
● Oversee and ensure completion of all mandatory compliance training (Ving, TIPS).
● Maintain wage notification compliance and documentation in accordance with local/state requirements.
● Administer employee locker assignments and security protocols.
● Manage employee exit process, including resignation, termination, return of property, exit interview, final pay and follow up paperwork.
● Aid in completion of location(s) unemployment claims
● Perform quarterly HR and compliance audits to ensure regulatory and policy adherence.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Essential Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required and/ or three years of human resource management experience.
● SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
● Restaurant/Hospitality experience preferred
● Must be fluent in English including writing, reading, and speaking. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
● Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
● Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
● Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
