Wage: $81,120 – $87,360 per year + Bonus (Performance Based)
The HR Manager oversees the full scope of Human Resources functions, with a strong focus on compliance, multi-state payroll and tax administration, benefits (including 401(k)), employee relations, and leadership development. This role ensures HR operations align with business objectives while maintaining strict compliance with all applicable employment laws. The HR Manager also leads and develops the HR team, driving consistency, accountability, and operational excellence across all HR practices.

Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour regulations, leave laws (FMLA/CFRA), and state-specific requirements. Monitor regulatory updates, maintain labor law postings, and lead internal audits across payroll, I-9s, personnel files, and benefits. Partner with legal counsel on complex matters and continuously update HR policies to reflect current legislation.
Payroll & Tax Oversight
Oversee in-house payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Review payroll registers, wage calculations, bonuses, commissions, and final pay. Ensure compliance with multi-state tax requirements, garnishments, and reporting obligations while coordinating with payroll providers to resolve discrepancies.
Benefits & 401(k) Administration
Manage end-to-end benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability plans. Oversee 401(k) programs, including eligibility, contributions, compliance testing, and audits. Lead open enrollment and serve as the primary liaison with brokers and carriers while ensuring compliance with ERISA, COBRA, and ACA requirements.
Employee Relations & Investigations
Lead employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, performance concerns, and policy violations. Conduct thorough and unbiased investigations, document findings, and provide recommendations that mitigate risk and ensure fair, consistent outcomes.
Leave Administration
Oversee all leave programs, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA accommodations, and state/local leave laws. Ensure proper tracking, documentation, and compliance while guiding managers and employees through processes.
HR Operations & Systems
Maintain the integrity of HRIS and payroll systems, ensuring accurate employee data and reporting. Support system enhancements and process improvements. Analyze HR metrics such as turnover, labor costs, and time-to-fill to inform strategic decisions.
Leadership & Strategic Partnership
Act as a strategic partner to leadership by aligning HR initiatives with organizational goals. Develop leadership programs, coach managers on performance and employee engagement, and drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement through data-driven insights.
Culture & Engagement
Partner with leadership to strengthen employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture. Implement recognition programs, monitor turnover trends, and develop targeted strategies to improve employee satisfaction.
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop HR team members, setting clear expectations and fostering professional growth. Delegate effectively, build team capability, and ensure alignment across all HR functions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
4+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
Strong experience in employee relations, compliance, payroll, and benefits administration
Working knowledge of multi-state employment laws and HR best practices
Proven ability to lead teams, influence leadership, and manage cross-functional partnerships
Experience with ADP Workforce Now and workforce management systems preferred
Additional Information

Bilingual skills (Spanish or Japanese) are a plus
