Roles And Responsibilities
The HR Director serves as strategic partner to Functional Leaders within the organization and is a key member of the HR and corporate teams who will be responsible for supporting a designated market in the following areas: employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, succession planning, policy implementation, team resource support projects, compliance and control auditing and employment law compliance. This individual must be flexible and adaptable to change in a fast-paced organization while demonstrating prior human resource and project management experience, organizational and time management skills, analytical and strategical thinking, teamwork, and computer proficiency.
- Continuously modeling and promoting the NYSC and our family of brands mission, mission statement, and values with pride and integrity.
- Partner with Business Leaders to respond to all field HR inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs, and employee relation issues.
- Supports the performance management, workforce planning and succession planning processes.
- Works with Business Leaders to promptly and thoroughly investigate escalated HR issues and complaints and escalates complex or high-risk situations as needed.
- Advise and maintain thorough documentation on all HR matters, including progressive discipline supporting forms, case summaries and proposed terminations for consult.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of Federal, State, and Local employment laws and regulations.
- Utilize sound communication and interpersonal skills to ensure equity, understanding and compliance when counseling managers on employee relations issues to include discipline, policies and procedures interpretation, harassment and discrimination, HR compliance, background checks, I-9 compliance, etc.
- Partner w/ Leadership teams to ensure Onboarding and Manager Immersions, Readiness Assessments & Opening Day requirements are executed.
- Deliver training modules to staff on employment, compliance and designated topics as assigned.
- Conduct Mentor Manager and Mentee weekly check-in calls to ensure immersion compliance and knowledge transfer.
- Become familiar with the library of learning and development programs and initiatives currently available and provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Maintain a sense of confidentiality in all HR related matters such as personnel matters, employee relations, benefits, leave of absences, terminations and organizational changes and the planning and protecting of the security of this information, data and files.
- Support HR Projects that advance Team Members learning, development or success, including but not limited to, assisting to update internal documents, handbooks, job descriptions, etc.
- Conduct Exit Interviews for Managers who have voluntarily resigned to assess controllable turnover trends; reports exit trends and details to field leaders to help reduce turnover.
- Other duties and projects as assigned; responsibilities may be modified without advance notice.
Position Requirements & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Professional certification a plus.
- 5-6 years of experience in performing human resource related functions.
- Extensive experience in handling complex employee relation issues in a fast paced, high volume environment.
- Working knowledge of EEOC and all other applicable employment laws, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills, ability to actively contribute as a team player and superior attention to detail required.
- Adaptability and willingness to consistently learn new skills.
- Knowledge of managing an applicant tracking system.
- Skilled in working within a consultative environment with strong ability to influence, exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to coach and influence operational leaders while balancing advocacy for all team members.
- Familiarity in managing HRIS systems.
- Involvement in managing an annual review process in its entirety.
- Demonstrable ability to build and sustain quality relationships with all levels of the organization and leverage resources to accomplish goals.
- Demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence and ability to adapt to differing audiences and behavioral styles.
- Exceptional ability to communicate orally, in writing and in group presentations (facilitation skills).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required and familiarity with communication platforms (i.e., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Go-To-Webinar, etc.) required.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to prioritize while alternating between tasks and maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and changes in the moment, working in the gray and pivoting priorities depending upon the needs of the business.
- Ability to proficiently use our POS and membership system, timekeeping any other computer programs required to meet the business needs of the customer and NYSC.
