Who We Are:
Tenex is where builders, operators, and problem-solvers come together to help the world’s most ambitious companies tackle their toughest challenges. We work at the intersection of strategy and engineering — embedding dedicated teams directly into organizations to turn complex, high-stakes problems into real, measurable outcomes. We don’t do slide decks and hand-offs; we sit in the trenches alongside our clients and build.
We operate with the speed of a startup and the rigor of the best firms in the world. Our culture is built on intellectual curiosity, radical ownership, and a belief that exceptional work comes from diverse teams who are empowered to challenge assumptions, move fast, and hold each other to a higher standard. If you want to work on projects that actually matter, alongside people who make you better — Tenex is the place to do it.
The Role:
We’re hiring an HR Manager to help build the people infrastructure that will support Tenex through its next phase of growth.
This is not a traditional HR role. We are scaling aggressively and need someone who can operate as both a strategic thought partner and hands-on builder—someone excited to create the systems, programs, and processes that help high-performing teams thrive.
This role will lean heavily into Learning & Development, Organizational Design, Compensation Planning, and HR Operations, helping us design and implement the foundational people programs needed to scale from startup to category-defining company.
You’ll report directly to the Head of People and play a critical role in shaping how Tenex develops talent, structures teams, rewards performance, and builds operational excellence across the organization.
If you thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and love building from scratch in high-growth environments, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and scale onboarding, manager enablement, leadership development, and career growth programs that help employees perform at a high level
- Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps, drive performance development, and build feedback mechanisms that reinforce a culture of excellence
- Support compensation benchmarking, leveling frameworks, promotion criteria, and organizational design as the company scales
- Partner with leadership on org planning, headcount modeling, and team structure to align talent with business priorities
- Own and optimize HR operations including onboarding, offboarding, compliance, documentation, systems, and employee lifecycle processes
- Build scalable people infrastructure, processes, and reporting to support rapid company growth
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on performance management, employee relations, and team effectiveness
- Help shape and maintain Tenex’s high-performance culture as the organization grows
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- 5+ years of HR/People Operations/HRBP/Generalist experience, ideally in a high-growth startup or fast-paced environment
- Strong experience in Learning & Development / Talent Development / Performance Enablement
- Experience building or managing compensation bands, leveling frameworks, and organizational design initiatives
- Deep familiarity with HR operations, policies, compliance, and employee lifecycle management
- Strong operational mindset—you know how to build process and structure from ambiguity
- Excellent judgment and ability to navigate sensitive employee matters with professionalism
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to operate autonomously and thrive in fast-moving, constantly evolving environments
We’ve Got You Covered:
- Comprehensive medical coverage (PPO and HSA options), dental, and vision
- HSA, Healthcare FSA, and Commuter Benefits
- 100% employer-paid life insurance + AD&D
- 100% employer-paid long-term disability insurance
- Responsible PTO — take what you need
What we offer:
The base salary for this role is $150,000 - $180,000 annually + performance-based discretionary bonus quarterly. When determining compensation, we consider job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Our workplace:
We prioritize in-person work and collaborate from our New York City office five days a week. We believe our best ideas come from working closely together. Being in the same space enables faster collaboration, real-time problem solving, and stronger relationships that elevate how we build and execute as a team.
Compensation Range: $150K - $180K
