Our client, a luxury 4-star hotel with approximately 240 guest rooms, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to support the property during a 3-month temporary assignment (FMLA coverage). This role requires a hands-on HR leader with strong hotel industry experience and union exposure, capable of stepping in quickly and maintaining operational continuity. This is an on-site role requiring immediate impact across employee relations, compliance, recruitment, and training.
- Duration: 3 months (FMLA coverage)
- Schedule: Full-time, on-site
- Start: Immediate / ASAP preferred
- Pay: $50/hour
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute the Human Resources strategy in alignment with corporate guidelines and property-level initiatives
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and performance management
- Provide guidance and counsel to managers and colleagues on HR-related issues and best practices
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for the hotel
- Ensure compliance with all local employment laws, labor regulations, and company policies
- Manage and support union-related matters, including adherence to collective bargaining agreements
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver training and development programs
- Oversee onboarding and induction processes to ensure a seamless new hire experience
- Promote company culture, mission, and core values across all departments
- Support colleague relations initiatives and foster a positive, service-driven work environment
- Supervise department heads (HODs) on HR-related matters and ensure consistency in HR practices
- Exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential situations
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an HR Director or senior HR leader within a hotel or resort environment required
- Strong union experience required
- Working knowledge of local employment laws and compliance standards
- Proven ability to manage employee relations issues in a fast-paced hospitality setting
- Experience with recruitment, onboarding, and training program development
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize effectively
- Proficient in HR systems and general computer applications
- Professional, service-oriented mindset with strong leadership presence
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
