Summary
BBVA is seeking a Junior HR Generalist to support and execute day-to-day HR operations. This role is responsible for managing key HR processes from initiation through completion and providing both administrative & analytical support across functions including employee onboarding and ad hoc projects.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end employee onboarding experience
- Manage pre-employment processes (background checks, employment verifications, etc)
- Process new hires, employee changes, and terminations in HR systems while ensuring data accuracy and appropriate system access
- Conduct New Hire Orientation sessions
- Prepare and distribute onboarding materials and required new hire documentation
- Ensure I-9 employment verification compliance and maintain accurate documentation
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and general HR matters
- Maintain the vacation tracking system to ensure accurate time-off tracking & proper coding usage
- Own HR data management processes while ensuring accurate and timely updates to employee records (e.g., name, cost center, department, reporting structure changes, etc) and record retention
- Support the development & implementation of HR policies and standard operating procedures
- Coordinate office events and internal communications
- Coordinate learning & development initiatives, supporting program delivery, and execution
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, internal policies, and regulatory requirements
- Support ad hoc reporting and data analysis requests
Education / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field of study
- At least 3+ years of experience/knowledge of HR functions
- Experience with HRIS Software – preferably ADP Workforce Now
- Strong analytics skills and proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, Formulas, Pivots)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, shift priorities based on business needs, and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive outlook
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate to all employee levels including Senior Management and provide excellent customer service
- Precise attention to detail and strong record keeping habits with a keen eye for data inconsistencies
- Strong problem solving skills and a proactive mindset
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Additional:
- Experience working in Foreign Banking/Financial Institutions/Corporate Investment Banking is a plus
- SHRM / HRCI certification is a plus
- Spanish-speaking ability is a plus

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $85,000 to $114,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
