Director of Human Resources
Location: Hybrid – Chatham, NJ
Compensation: $125,000 – $175,000 (based on experience and scope)
About the Role
A growing financial services firm is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead and elevate the organization’s people operations. This role is ideal for a strategic, entrepreneurial HR leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and can bring structure, accountability, and leadership to teams that are exceptional in their industries but require stronger management frameworks.
The Director of HR will play a critical role in building scalable HR systems, strengthening leadership capability, and supporting the organization’s continued growth.
This position will work closely with executive leadership and report directly to senior management, partnering with leadership to ensure the firm’s people strategy supports business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Lead and evolve the organization’s overall human resources strategy and infrastructure.
- Develop scalable HR processes that support business growth while maintaining a practical and entrepreneurial culture.
- Partner with executive leadership to strengthen organizational effectiveness and leadership development.
Leadership & Management Development
- Coach and support managers who are highly skilled in their industries but require guidance in effective people management.
- Provide leadership on best practices in performance management, employee discipline, conflict resolution, and team development.
- Serve as a trusted advisor capable of challenging ineffective management practices and raising leadership standards across the organization.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Oversee and improve recruiting processes to attract high-performing talent aligned with the company’s culture.
- Guide managers through effective hiring practices and candidate evaluation.
- Implement structured onboarding programs that accelerate employee integration and productivity.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Oversee core HR operations including:
- Recruiting and hiring processes
- Onboarding and offboarding
- HR compliance and regulatory requirements
- Employee relations
- Policies and procedures
- Performance management and disciplinary processes
- Ensure HR systems support the business while remaining practical, efficient, and not overly bureaucratic.
Culture & Organizational Effectiveness
- Strengthen a culture of accountability, professionalism, and high performance.
- Develop processes that support positive employee relations and organizational stability.
- Lead initiatives that support employee engagement and retention.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a strong HR leader and business partner, not simply a policy administrator.
They will bring a balance of strategic thinking, operational execution, and leadership presence.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles such as HR Director, Head of HR, or Senior HR Manager
- Experience in financial services, professional services, consulting, or other fast-paced regulated industries
- Demonstrated ability to coach managers and resolve complex employee relations matters
- Strong experience across the full HR lifecycle including recruiting, onboarding, compliance, performance management, and separations
