Optomi, in partnership with a leading organization in the field services industry, is looking for an HR Background Screening Specialist to support high-volume background screening, compliance, and drug testing operations across multiple locations.
Position Summary:

- You will manage the full lifecycle of background screenings and drug testing programs, ensure adherence to FCRA and EEOC guidelines, and support both Talent Acquisition and HR teams with timely, accurate adjudication.
- This is a 4-month contract with possible extension, requiring onsite presence Monday through Thursday and remote work on Fridays.

What type of experience does the right candidate have:
- 2+ years of prior HR experience (field environment or combination of field and corporate preferred).
- Hands-on experience overseeing background screening processes; experience with First Advantage or Sterling is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of FCRA, EEOC guidelines, and background adjudication best practices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply consistent, impartial decision-making criteria.
- High level of confidentiality, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple workflows and deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness and ability to commit to the full 4-month contract period.
What the responsibilities are of the right candidate:
- Own and manage the First Advantage (Sterling) background screening process.
- Review criminal, clinical, education, employment, license, and other role-specific verifications.
- Monitor screening workflows to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective processing for hires and current employees.
- Review and adjudicate background screening results in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.
- Manage escalations related to adverse findings, candidate disputes, and time-sensitive hiring decisions.
- Support HR and Talent Acquisition teams on screening policies, processes, and best practices.
- Manage new location setup processes for incoming locations.
- Order and process drug and alcohol testing supplies as requested.
- Administer the Quarterly Random Testing Program, including partnering with First Advantage to distribute Q2 random drug testing lists and track completion.
- Process invoices related to screening and testing services.
