The Payroll & HR Specialist will focus on the processing of biweekly payroll for 800+ employees, including maintaining related records, processing voluntary/involuntary deductions, handling tax and other withholdings, preparing reports for operations management, and performing analysis as necessary. This role will also involve participating in projects to assist the HR and Benefits teams as needed. This is a contract opportunity (3+ months with potential to extend or convert to FTE) with a hybrid schedule (onsite 3 days/week in downtown Chicago office).
Responsibilities:
- Ensures payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintains accurate payroll records and employee files, including manual check log
- Assist with process optimization in Paycor system
- Review payroll documentation for accuracy through various reports
- Processes employee changes in the payroll system, including deductions, garnishments, levies, time off, and benefits
- Answers inquiries regarding payroll matters
- Review employee timesheets for appropriate approvals and compliance with wage/ hour laws
- Prepares various payroll reports
- Maintains and protects confidential information
- Tracks, audits, and analyzes benefits invoices
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- 2-3+ years Payroll experience, Bachelor’s degree and/or CPP preferred
- Strong Paycor system experience
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Knowledge of wage and hour laws
- Excellent communication, attention to detail and time management skills
