Job Title: HR Generalist
Position Summary
The HR Generalist will support day-to-day HR operations for a fast-paced fashion company. This role partners closely with the HR Director and cross-functional teams (Design, Merchandising, Retail, Operations) to ensure smooth HR processes, compliance, and exceptional employee support. The ideal candidate brings strong HR fundamentals, experience in payroll workflows, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, creative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & HRIS (Dayforce)
- Support the payroll process by preparing inputs, auditing timesheets, and ensuring accuracy prior to submission.
- Understand payroll workflows, deductions, and reporting (HR Director manages and has automated the primary process).
- Maintain and update employee data in Dayforce ensuring accuracy across all HRIS modules (time & attendance, benefits, compensation, onboarding).
- Troubleshoot basic system issues and escalate as needed.
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and HR inquiries.
- Assist in onboarding and offboarding processes, including orientation, new-hire paperwork, and exit logistics.
- Support employee engagement programs, performance cycles, and culture initiatives.
Compliance & Labor Law
- Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Maintain awareness of wage and hour laws, scheduling requirements, and workplace safety regulations.
- Support the HR Director in audits, reporting, and policy updates.
- Maintain employee files and ensure confidentiality and compliance with labor and privacy regulations.
Recruitment & Talent Support
- Coordinate interviews, manage candidate communications, and support hiring managers.
- Assist with job postings, resume reviews, and scheduling.
- Support onboarding to ensure new hires have a smooth integration.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, questions, and troubleshooting.
- Help process leave of absence requests in accordance with company policy and labor laws (FMLA, state leaves, PTO, etc.).
HR Operations & Projects
- Generate HR reports, maintain dashboards, and support data-driven decision making.
- Assist with HR calendar events (reviews, compliance deadlines, open enrollment).
- Support special projects led by the HR Director.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of HR experience, preferably within fashion, retail, or creative industries.
- Working knowledge of payroll processes; prior payroll exposure required.
- Hands-on experience with Dayforce HRIS (or similar system).
- Strong understanding of labor laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
