A design-forward, high-energy lifestyle hotel in Boston is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead the people and culture function for the property. This role serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering closely with hotel leadership to support a positive, performance-driven workplace while ensuring strong compliance, engagement, and operational alignment.
This is an on-property leadership position responsible for the full scope of Human Resources in a professional, team-oriented environment.
Position Overview
The Director of Human Resources provides strategic and operational HR leadership, supporting approximately 120–130 employees in a non-union setting. The role oversees employee relations, recruitment, compliance, training, and culture initiatives while serving as a trusted advisor to department leaders.
The property maintains a stable workforce and collaborative leadership culture, allowing this role to focus on proactive support, development, and engagement rather than reactive HR management.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the General Manager and Executive Committee to align people strategies with business goals
- Oversee all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and training
- Provide guidance to department leaders on performance management, coaching, and team development
- Lead employee engagement and culture initiatives that support a positive workplace environment
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Manage benefits administration, HR systems, and payroll coordination
- Serve as the primary resource for employee relations matters, maintaining fairness and consistency
- Support workforce planning and hiring needs in line with operational requirements
