Our client is a well-respected premium food retailer known for extraordinary seafood and high-end, private-label products. Established in New York City in 1912, today they are an iconic family-run gourmet market with select locations in New York City, the Hamptons, and Greenwich Connecticut.
THE ROLE
The VP HR will report to the COO and be responsible for people & HR strategy, ensuring a cohesive, scalable, and high-impact approach to talent, culture, compliance, and workforce operations. The position serves as a strategic partner to all departments, building systems that improve efficiency, enhance the employee experience, and support long-term organizational growth. Key areas of focus include
- Strengthening Talent Acquisition
- Elevating Learning & Development
- Ensuring compliance
- Refining Payroll and Benefits structures
- Fostering strong Employee Relations
- Optimizing the company’s HRIS and scheduling tools.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED
- 15 or more years of full-time experiences in the HR function
- At least 5 years of direct responsibility for HR function in multi-site, labor-intensive environment (retail, food, hospitality, consumer services, distribution, or similar).
- Experience working directly with C-suite / executive team to develop strategic plans.
- Demonstrated expertise across HR portfolio: talent acquisition, total rewards, employee relations, learning and development, performance management, HR operations, and compliance.
- Proven ability to lead HR for high-volume frontline workforces, including staffing models, scheduling realities, retention, and engagement.
- Knowledgeable of current HR systems and experience modernizing HR systems and processes.
