We are partnering with a privately held, Houston-based energy organization seeking an experienced HR Manager / Director to oversee day-to-day human resources operations and help modernize HR processes across the company.
This role will be hands-on and highly impactful, with a primary focus on payroll, benefits administration, and multi-state compliance, while also supporting broader HR initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Management: Oversee and process payroll using ADP, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Benefits Administration: Partner closely with benefits and 401(k) brokers to manage open enrollment, renewals, and ongoing employee benefit inquiries.
- Employee Lifecycle Support: Manage onboarding processes to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for new hires.
- Policies & Procedures: Review, update, and maintain HR policies related to performance management, training, and labor law compliance.
- Multi-State Compliance: Set up and maintain state-specific requirements within ADP for employees working across multiple states.
- Process Improvement: Evaluate and modernize existing HR systems and workflows, implementing updated technology and best practices.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted resource for employees regarding payroll, benefits, and general HR matters.
- HR Operations: Support additional HR initiatives as needed to strengthen internal operations and employee experience.
Qualifications
- 10–15 years of experience in an HR Manager, HR Director, or similar leadership role
- Strong background in payroll and benefits administration, including experience with ADP and working with external brokers
- Solid understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws
- Experience supporting multi-state workforces
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a hands-on environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively at all levels of the organization
- Track record of modernizing HR processes and systems
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
