Summary/Objective
The role of the
Health & Human Resources Director is responsible for providing management of the HR and Safety functions. Responsible for providing HR support and leadership to multiple locations throughout the United States. The Health & HR Director actively partners with the business to support quality, productivity, and effective performance management policies. The Health & HR Director will partner with operations, finance, sales, supply chain, and IT to ensure successful implementation of company-wide programs and initiatives in support of the overall business strategy. This role is also responsible for implementing programs to educate employees on safety and accident prevention. The Health & HR Director is responsible for ensuring all compliance rules and regulations are followed.
Essential Functions
- Provide strategic and tactical support to the plants and departments on a variety of topics to include compensation and benefits, employee relations, talent acquisition, and talent management utilizing an employee self-service support model.
- Provide interpretation and guidance on policies/procedures, as well as to develop new policies/procedures or recommend updates as needed.
- Act as thought partner to senior leadership in defining and executing on a variety of talent strategies and employee related objectives.
- Maintain knowledge of HR policies/procedures, laws, rules, and regulations.
- Build and maintain strong functional HR support through effective communications and interaction with all departments/location and ensure employees are trained on effective use of the HRIS system.
- Apply advanced safety-related principles, standards, practices, and analytical techniques to reduce injury to workers and/or damage to property.
- Conduct regular audits and walk-throughs of plants (internal/external) to identify existing/potentially hazardous conditions.
- Train Plant Managers and Production Managers to be safety specialist at their location.
- Oversee maintenance of required safety documentation (i.e., MSDS books, Safety policies, etc.) as dictated by OSHA and other agencies.
- Provide monthly safety training topics and ensure safety training is completed in a timely manner and properly documented.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages Corporate HR and Safety team as well as working closely with the Production Assistants at each plant.
Work Environment
This job operates in both a professional work environment which is climate controlled, as well as in plant environments that are not climate controlled.
Physical Demands: Be able to lift 25 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
This is a full-time position. Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with 1 hour for lunch. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. There may be some flexibility as needed upon review/approval by the CEO.
Travel
Travel required to other facilities across the U.S to support projects, conduct safety audits, and HR support.
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience required in a HR senior manager role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Industry or consulting experience in change management, organizational design, and learning & development helpful.
- Intermediate to advance expertise with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficiency in English.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Customer-oriented and cool-tempered.
- Ability to quickly establish personal and HR credibility within the organization and a high degree of tolerance for change as well as the ability to lead others through the change process. Comfortable challenging the status quo and willing to “roll up their sleeves and get things done” as well as possess a “can do” attitude.
- First Aid, CPR, OSHA, and AED certifications are preferred.
- Strong understanding of Safety, OSHA, and accident investigation procedures.
- Knowledge of federal and state HR and safety requirements.
