Private equity-backed organization with approximately 100 employees across two offices, one in Texas and one in California. The HR Director is both a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all human resources programs, policies, and processes that support the company's long-term growth and daily operations in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
This role is instrumental in fostering an employee-centric culture that is rooted in collaboration, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. The HR Director will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and a resource to employees, helping to bridge communication across all levels while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, particularly in Texas and California.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive HR strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with company goals.
- Lead full-cycle talent acquisition, including job postings, resume screening, interviews, onboarding, and orientation.
- Drive performance management processes and employee engagement initiatives that support a high-performance culture.
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning, training, development, and succession planning.
- Oversee benefits administration, including enrollments, terminations, COBRA, open enrollment, and carrier billing reconciliation.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing in Paycom, ensuring data accuracy, benefit deductions, 401(k) contributions, and PTO tracking.
- Lead employee relations matters, including coaching, counseling, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Maintain and regularly update the employee handbook and job descriptions to reflect current laws and business needs.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, with a focus on Texas and California regulations.
- Design and facilitate internal training and organizational development programs to support employee growth.
- Track and analyze key HR metrics and employee data to identify trends and support data-driven decision-making.
- Administer and maintain HRIS platforms (e.g., Paycom), ensuring data integrity and system optimization.
- Manage all HR lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, timekeeping, and retirements.
- Lead and respond to HR-related audits and government agency inquiries.
- Serve as liaison to outsourced vendors for HR operations, IT, benefits, and facilities support.
- Maintain accurate and compliant electronic and physical personnel records.
- Coordinate and oversee employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, wellness activities, and safety events.
- Act as the main point of contact for employees regarding HR matters, and support third-party coordination for IT and office needs.
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 510 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a generalist role with hands-on responsibilities in recruiting, employee relations, and payroll.
- Proven experience advising senior leadership and driving HR initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport across all levels of the organization.
- High emotional intelligence with strong conflict resolution, coaching, and mediation capabilities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with keen attention to detail and follow-through.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS platforms such as Paycom is strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage and maintain sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, balancing strategic and tactical responsibilities.
