LHB is seeking a forward-thinking, people-driven, and strategic Human Resources Director to join our executive leadership team. This is a hybrid position based in our Duluth or Minneapolis locations. The LHB Human Resources Director is responsible for overseeing Human Resources and Office Administration, ensuring alignment between people strategy and LHB’s core values. This role serves as a steward of culture and engagement, driving the integration of values into internal practices and external outreach while supporting business strategies, growth, and organizational effectiveness.

Position Summary
The responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate and model LHB’s Core Values of Healthy Relationships, Technical Excellence, Dedication, and Listening First in all interactions. Serve as an advocate for LHB’s culture internally and externally
- Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Lead and mentor Human Resources and Office Administration teams, fostering a collaborative, engaged, curious, flexible, and service-oriented culture. Support the team’s professional development and continuing education
- Serve on the LHB Leadership Team and engage openly in discussions and decision making. Work with the Leadership Team, ensuring LHB’s Core Values are embedded in our policies, programs, initiatives, and communications
- Examine and understand strategic business needs across the entire organization
- Develop, lead, and communicate a comprehensive human resources and people strategy aligned with the firm’s Core Values, Core Focus, and goals
- Lead initiatives that support employee engagement, retention, well-being, training, and professional development
- Support access and belonging initiatives that align with LHB’s values
- Oversee talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefits, policies, compliance, payroll, and workforce planning
- Coach supervisors and employees on performance issues, communications, and interpersonal skills
- Oversee LHB’s safety program
- Oversee timely and accurate Human Resources reporting, filings, and compliance activities.
- Ensures that organization complies with employment law and mitigates risks associated with employment practices
- Manages confidential information with integrity
- Lead the development and management of Human Resources and Office/Facilities budgets.
- Serve as the liaison with HR related external partners, including but not limited to legal counsel, software vendors, and benefits administers and providers
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong communications and relationship-building skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Supervisory experience
- Experience applying personnel practices in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, and Title VII
- Prior experience in the AEC industry
- Demonstrated strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into action
- Demonstrated experience implementing HR projects, programs and processes
- Demonstrated ability to partner with executive leadership and influence business decisions
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms (UKG, ICIMS or similar) and ability to evaluate/implement new systems
- Strong employee relations skills with a track record of resolving complex workplace situations
- Ability and willingness to travel between LHB offices
- Willingness to pursue additional training and/or certifications to remain up to date on best practices, trends, and changing regulations
- SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR Certification
Salary Range
- This position’s anticipated base salary range is $121,000 – $166,000 annually. This position is eligible for year-end bonuses. Offer will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
