Job Summary
The Senior Human Resources Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for all aspects of HR, balancing day-to-day support on the floor with strategic initiatives that drive organizational growth, workforce stability, and a strong, values-driven culture. This role also leads employee safety programs, including workers’ compensation, and partners closely with Operations to maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment.
The ideal candidate is both operationally strong and comfortable being visible on the floor, with the ability to build trust and influence leaders at all levels.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities (not Restrictive)
- Partner with leadership to align HR strategies with business goals and day-to-day operational needs
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and programs; ensure consistent application and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (with strong emphasis on California law)
- Oversee daily HR operations, including employee relations, compliance, performance management, staffing, and safety
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees; provide practical, timely guidance on workplace matters
- Manage, coach, and develop the HR team, ensuring strong support to the business and ongoing professional growth
- In partnership with Operations, design, implement, and maintain OSHA-compliant safety programs that reduce incidents and reinforce safe behavior
- Own and oversee workers’ compensation programs, including claims management and return-to-work processes
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles; partner with leadership on workforce planning and hiring strategies
- Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring market competitiveness and internal equity
- Partner with leadership to enhance total rewards offerings and the overall employee value proposition
- Manage and optimize the HRIS (Paycor), ensuring data integrity, reporting accuracy, and system utilization
- Build and maintain HR reporting and dashboards; analyze key metrics (turnover, absenteeism, engagement, etc.) and use insights to drive decision-making and improvements
- Lead investigations and resolve employee relations issues in a fair, consistent, and timely manner
- Develop and implement employee engagement and retention strategies that support a stable, high-performing workforce
- Develop and maintain a consistent and practical performance management program across the organization
- Lead leadership development, coaching, and training initiatives; support succession planning and talent development efforts
- Support change management initiatives and identify opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness
Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education & Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred
Experience Required
- 7 years of progressive HR experience, including team leadership and support of both front-line and senior leaders
- Experience in manufacturing or a similar operational environment required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices
- Proven ability to build credibility and influence leaders and employees at all levels
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to pivot and lead in a positive manner within a fast paced environment with changing priorities
- Ability to work flexible hours to support all shifts
Language, Computer & Numeracy
- Bilingual in English/Spanish required
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
Pay Range: $120,000-$140,000
Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
