We are looking for an experienced HR Specialist to join our team in Escondido, California. As part of a non-profit organization, you will play a vital role in supporting the Human Resources department and ensuring compliance with agency and safety regulations. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to contribute to organizational growth and employee well-being.
Responsibilities:
• Respond to employee inquiries and provide timely support on HR-related topics.
• Track and maintain records of training, testing, and licensure requirements to meet agency and grant compliance.
• Manage the learning management system, including distributing required training and troubleshooting system issues.
• Coordinate the worker’s compensation program, including filing claims, tracking cases, and guiding managers on safety protocols.
• Organize agency-wide safety initiatives, including committee meetings and communication of safety policies.
• Maintain and update the Workplace Violence Prevention Plan and ensure staff training on related procedures.
• Process change of status forms accurately and ensure updates to pay and benefits are reflected promptly.
• Administer employee leave programs, including processing requests and tracking leave periods.
• Maintain confidential files, employee records, and HR department documentation in both physical and electronic formats.
• Provide guidance to managers and senior HR leadership on trends related to safety, worker’s compensation, and employee leave programs.
• Proven experience in HR administration, including employee relations and onboarding.
• Familiarity with managing benefits and leave programs.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems for maintaining and retrieving employee records.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing compliance and documentation.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Knowledge of workplace safety protocols and worker’s compensation procedures.
• Bachelors Degree required.
