Human Resources Director – Manufacturing

Are you an experienced HR leader ready to make an impact at a growing, privately held manufacturing company? Our client, a well-established organization with over 40 years of success, is looking for a Human Resources Director to oversee HR operations across corporate, plant, and warehouse locations in the Chicago Metro area. This role is based at the Corporate Headquarters near Wheeling, Illinois and reports directly to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead HR operations across multiple manufacturing and distribution facilities, including corporate, plant, and warehouse teams.
- Develop, review, and implement corporate HR policies, including updates to the Employee Handbook.
- Manage a growing HR team of Plant HR Managers, HR Generalists, and HR Coordinators, as well as relationships with on-site agency representatives.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Union employees and representatives, including dispute resolution and coaching of managers.
- Oversee all recruitment and selection processes, ensuring the company attracts and retains top talent at all levels.
- Plan and execute onboarding and orientation programs to set employees up for success.
- Partner with the Corporate Safety Manager on incident investigations, Worker’s Compensation claims, OSHA reporting, and compliance.
- Implement and coordinate management training and development programs to strengthen leadership capabilities.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Controller and Payroll Manager to maintain competitive salary structures, wage rates, and employee benefits.
- Lead annual performance review and compensation review processes.
Technical & Professional Requirements:
- 10+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 7 years in a management role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Proficient with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and strong analytical skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage complex, multi-site HR operations.
