SolComms, an award-winning integrated communications agency for startups and scale-ups at the intersection of corporate and consumer communications, is seeking a Human Resources Director to help shape and scale our people operations.
This newly created role will work closely with senior management to build a thriving workplace culture, attract top talent, and support the growth and development of our team. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a genuine passion for people and a deep understanding of the unique dynamics of an agency environment.
Here’s What You’ll Do
People & Culture
- Champion and evolve the company's culture, values, and employee experience
- Develop and implement initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels of the organization
- Serve as a trusted resource and advisor to employees and leadership on all HR-related matters
- Assist with organizing employee engagement programs, team-building activities, and recognition efforts
Talent Acquisition & Retention
- Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process, from job posting to offer letter
- Partner with department heads to identify hiring needs and build a strong talent pipeline
- Develop competitive compensation and benefits packages to attract and retain top talent
- Lead onboarding programs that set new hires up for success from day one
Performance & Development
- Design and manage performance review processes and goal-setting frameworks
- Identify learning and development opportunities to support employee growth and career progression
- Coach and support managers on performance management, feedback, and team development
- Create clear career pathing frameworks across all departments
HR Operations & Compliance
- Oversee all HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook documentation
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Manage HRIS systems and maintain accurate employee records
- Oversee benefits administration, payroll coordination, and open enrollment processes
Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as a strategic partner to the executive team on organizational planning and workforce strategy
- Analyze HR metrics and data to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement
- Lead and mentor any HR support staff or coordinators
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or director-level role
- Prior experience in a public relations, marketing, media, or creative agency environment is strongly preferred
- Deep knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements
- Proven ability to build and maintain a positive and inclusive workplace culture
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with employees
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification a plus
