Tilley Partners has been retained by a global agribusiness and food company to hire a
Human Resources Director for their US headquarters in St. Louis, MO.
This is a new, onsite role due to growth.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Director, Human Resources – U.S. provides overall human resources leadership for U.S. operations through the management of a team of HR professionals. This role oversees U.S.-based human resources activities including employee and labor relations, performance management, recruitment, and policy development & compliance. The Director, HR serves as a senior advisor to HR managers and business leaders across the U.S. network, ensuring HR strategies effectively support operational and organizational objectives.
Minimum of ten years HR leadership experience in multi-site manufacturing operations, including unionized environments, is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with U.S. business leaders to address and resolve complex human resources issues and develop appropriate strategies aligned with operational needs
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HR professionals to ensure proactive and effective support to all U.S. operating locations
- As a key member of the HR Leadership team, participate in strategic planning and other critical activities to support an integrated HR program globally
- Support HR team members with complex employee relations matters; collaborate with Legal when required
- Work with HR team and operations leaders in U.S. unionized locations to proactively address and resolve grievances
- Support compensation processes for the US business, including year‑end review cycles, annual increases, bonus administration, and job evaluation activities
- Support U.S. labor relations activities and contribute expertise to corporate labor relations initiatives
- Support organizational changes within the U.S., including integration of acquired locations and restructuring activities
- Participate in HR project teams responsible for onboarding and integrating newly acquired U.S. businesses
- Oversee U.S. disability management and return‑to‑work programs
- Manage U.S. employee retention strategies by analyzing turnover and exit interview trends and guiding HR team on proactive solutions
- Develop U.S. staffing forecasts and collaborate with corporate HR to implement effective recruitment strategies
- Support U.S. campus recruitment initiatives and employer branding activities
- Develop, interpret, and maintain U.S. HR policies; ensure consistency and alignment with corporate policy direction where appropriate; ensure regulatory compliance
- Support U.S. relocation policies and programs
- Stay current with U.S. federal, state, and local employment legislation to ensure compliance across all jurisdictions
- Participate in U.S. operational leadership meetings as appropriate
- Lead or participate in HR department and cross‑functional projects focused on enhancing HR practices and business performance
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience & Education / Training
- A post-secondary education in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field required
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a human resources management capacity with experience in unionized environments
- Experience managing and motivating seasoned HR professionals required
- Experience in manufacturing preferred
- Experience supporting multiple decentralized U.S. locations an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Travel within the U.S. is required to support management team across various locations
· Travel to Canada will be required occasionally
