Summary:
The HR Manager oversees the daily operations of the Human Resources department and ensures the effective delivery of HR services across the organization. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role manages the HR team and is responsible for executing HR policies, programs, and processes that support employee engagement, compliance, onboarding, total rewards, performance management, and organizational development. The HR Manager ensures alignment with the company’s HR strategy while providing hands-on support to employees and managers.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
HR Operations & Team Leadership
- Manage the daily operations of the HR team and provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to HR staff.
- Implement and maintain HR policies, procedures, and processes to ensure consistent and efficient service delivery.
- Partner with the VP of HR to execute departmental goals, initiatives, and long-term HR strategies.
- Ensure clear communication and collaboration across the HR department and with internal stakeholders.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding employee relations matters and concerns.
- Support conflict resolution, performance improvement plans, and investigations.
- Partner with departmental management and Legal, when needed, to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
- Manage onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a positive and effective new-hire experience.
- Manage offboarding and termination processes for a smooth exit transition for all parties.
- Promote initiatives that enhance engagement, communication, and company culture.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Support the VP of HR in policy updates and compliance audits.
Compensation And Benefits
- Oversee employee benefits programs and open enrollment processes.
- Partner with HR VP on external benchmarking for all total rewards such as compensation and benefit offerings.
- Assist and advise managers on staffing needs, compensation reviews, job evaluations, and salary adjustments.
- Oversee the payroll function including processing and submission, adjustments, auditing, month-end and year-end processes.
- Partner with Accounting on payroll accuracy and employee record changes.
Performance Management
- Support managers in administering performance reviews, coaching, and documentation.
- Assist in developing and maintaining career development and succession planning tools.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or HR operations role preferred.
- Professional certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent credential preferred.
- Experience managing HR processes and working in a multi-site or fast-paced environment a plus.

- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions based on policy and judgment.

Physical Capabilities & Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or meeting with employees.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 15–20 pounds (e.g., files, training materials).
- Occasional walking, bending, or reaching when navigating office areas or supporting HR activities.
- Sufficient visual and auditory ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through virtual platforms.
- Minimal travel may be required for training, company meetings, or HR-related events.
Work Environment:
- Primarily an office-based role in a professional, collaborative, and fast-paced environment.
- Frequent interaction with employees, managers, HR vendors, and cross-functional teams to support HR operations.
- Occasional extended hours may be required during peak periods, audits, onboarding seasons, or major initiatives.
- Requires flexibility, strong multitasking capabilities, and responsiveness to changing priorities.
