Overview
The company is a fast-scaling, global AI technology business entering a critical phase of growth and preparing for a future IPO. They are seeking an experienced HR leader to build the People function from the ground up, define scalable processes, and drive talent strategy across a rapidly expanding organisation.
This individual will be the first dedicated People hire, taking full ownership of HR operations, talent acquisition, organisational development, and culture. The ideal candidate has a strong background in technology, has supported companies through pre-IPO growth, and has successfully scaled teams at pace in dynamic, high-growth environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Build and own the entire People function including HR operations, talent acquisition, HRIS, policies, processes, and compliance.
• Act as strategic partner to founders and senior leadership on people strategy, workforce planning, organisational design, and scaling frameworks.
• Lead talent acquisition, creating recruitment strategies, managing pipelines, and supporting executive hiring to build technical, commercial, and operational teams quickly.
• Develop and implement HR policies, handbooks, compensation structures, performance cycles, and learning & development frameworks.
• Support pre-IPO readiness by aligning people strategy with growth plans, advising on equity, compliance, leadership structure, and culture requirements for a maturing organisation.
• Oversee onboarding and offboarding, ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience across all locations.
• Manage benefits administration and payroll processes, partnering with finance to ensure accuracy, compliance, and scalability.
• Implement HR systems and tools, ensuring data accuracy, reporting capability, and automation across the employee lifecycle.
Experience & Skills Required
• 7+ years’ experience in People / HR roles, including time as the first or early People hire in a scaling technology company.
• Proven track record of scaling teams rapidly (e.g., 20 → 100+), ideally across multiple functions.
• Experience supporting companies from pre-IPO stage through to IPO preparation or listing.
• Strong talent acquisition background, with experience hiring in fast-growth tech, engineering, AI, or product-led organisations.
• Deep knowledge of US HR practices, employment law, compliance, and benefits.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement HR infrastructure, systems, and processes.
• Strong business acumen, able to align people strategy with wider company goals.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable working directly with founders and C-level leaders.
• Comfortable operating in high-growth, ambiguous, and fast-paced environments.
