Human Resources Manager (Remote – Must be in San Diego)
We are seeking a Human Resources (HR) Manager to lead and oversee all HR functions, practices, and processes. This role is designed to transition into an HR Director position within six months of hire. While the position is remote, must be based in the San Diego area.
A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred. SHRM certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) is strongly desired; candidates without the certification must obtain it within the first year of employment.
Position Summary:
The HR Manager will play a critical role in aligning human resources strategy with organizational goals. Responsibilities include driving compliance, managing employee relations, enhancing workplace culture, and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement learning and development programs to support internal growth.
- Guide and support employee disciplinary processes, terminations, and investigations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; regularly update policies to reflect best practices.
- Stay current on HR trends, employment legislation, and innovative talent management strategies.
- Lead recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new hires.
- Evaluate staffing needs and implement effective talent acquisition and retention strategies.
- Coordinate performance management and evaluation processes.
- Support offboarding procedures to ensure a positive transition experience.
- Partner with senior leadership on workforce planning and strategic HR initiatives.
- Design and implement HR policies, training programs, and organizational surveys.
- Address employee relations concerns, grievances, and issues to maintain a supportive workplace.
- Promote employee engagement, development, and retention.
- Manage open enrollment and communicate benefits updates effectively.
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to employee benefits programs through market research and benchmarking.
- Work with brokers and vendors to negotiate and administer employee benefits.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential employee records.
- Lead annual compliance trainings including HIPAA, harassment prevention, and security.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in human resources
- Minimum of 3 years in an HR leadership role
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred (required within first year)
