Position: Human Resources Director (Compliance-Focused)

Overview
Staffworks Group is looking for a hands-on HR Director to take ownership of HR compliance, employee relations, and core HR operations across multiple states and business lines.
This role is responsible for building structure, enforcing standards, reducing risk, and supporting leadership. This is not a passive HR role—we need someone who will step in, identify gaps, and fix them.
What You’ll Own
HR Compliance & Risk
- Ensure compliance across all states (wage/hour, I-9, EEOC, leave laws, etc.)
- Lead employee relations issues, investigations, and terminations
- Maintain and update handbook, policies, and required documentation
- Partner with leadership and outside counsel on higher-risk matters
- Drive consistency and documentation across all locations
Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle
- Improve onboarding processes for internal and field employees
- Ensure all hiring documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant
- Standardize employee files, recordkeeping, and offboarding
Performance Management
- Build and enforce a consistent performance management process
- Ensure managers are documenting issues and holding employees accountable
- Coach leaders on feedback, documentation, and performance expectations
Benefits Administration
- Oversee benefits, renewals, and vendor coordination
- Support employees with benefit-related questions and issue resolution
Manager Support & Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary HR partner to leadership
- Advise on employee issues, attendance, policy enforcement, and workplace concerns
- Help drive a culture of accountability and consistency
HR Operations
- Build and improve HR processes, workflows, and SOPs
- Audit current practices and identify gaps, risks, and inefficiencies
- Partner with recruiting, payroll, and operations to improve execution
What We’re Looking For
- Strong HR leadership experience (multi-state preferred)
- Deep knowledge of HR compliance and employee relations
- Experience in staffing or high-volume environments is a plus
- Hands-on, problem-solver who can build and improve processes
- Comfortable holding managers accountable and driving change
Education (Preferred):
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
