Nossaman LLP is seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to join its firm-wide management team. You will lead the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources function and serve as a trusted advisor to Firm leadership, delivering high quality HR services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing business objectives across the full employee lifecycle. The role is hybrid (onsite 2+ days per week), reporting to the Chief People Officer and based in the Los Angeles office.
The salary range for the position of Human Resources Director at Nossaman is $190,000 to $225,000 annually. The successful candidate’s salary for this position is reasonably expected to be set within this range. However, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
What Success Looks Like
- HR operations run smoothly every day with clear priorities, strong workflow management, effective supervision of the HR team, and strong partnership across Talent Management.
- Core HR programs are executed with excellence and consistency across onboarding and orientation, offboarding, compensation, benefits and 401(k) administration and retirement plan oversight, employee relations, performance management, health and safety, learning and development, recognition and engagement, and workforce well-being.
- The annual business professional performance evaluation and compensation process is owned end to end, delivered on time and accurately, and supported firmwide as needed.
- Employee relations matters are handled with sound judgment, discretion, and strong documentation, including coaching and counseling, investigations, performance improvement plans, terminations and separations.
- Payroll is processed accurately and on schedule, with continuity ensured through firm wide backup support for payroll, benefits, leaves of absence, wellness programs, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and other Talent Management areas, as needed.
- Compliance is proactive and audit ready, including policy and practice updates, required filings and related audits and inquiries (EEO 1, California Pay Data Reporting (CRD), Non-Discrimination Plan, Form 5500), and required training administration (anti-harassment, compliance-related, WVPP).
- HR is data driven and continuously improving through organizational trend analysis and recommendations, strategic ownership of HRIS and HR technology (data integrity, reporting, analytics, AI enabled tools and automation), leadership on Firm initiatives including RFP responses and compensation and salary surveys, active participation on the Retirement Plan Management Committee, and advancement of assigned Talent Management initiatives.
Education and additional details
- 7+ years of progressive HR and Talent Management experience, including people leadership and ownership of core HR programs across the employee lifecycle.
- ADP HRIS experience including payroll processing and HRIS administration; familiarity with iManage and viDesktop or comparable systems highly preferred.
- Demonstrated employee relations and performance management expertise including investigations, performance improvement plans, and terminations and separations, with strong documentation and discretion.
- Experience administering leaves and accommodations including FMLA, CFRA, and ADA with audit-ready processes.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations with ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong communication, presentation, training, interpersonal, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills with ability to prioritize, delegate, adapt, and meet deadlines.
- Experience supporting compensation and benefits administration and strategy, including retirement and 401(k) environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to optimize HR systems, reporting, metrics, and technology driven process improvements using AI enabled tools and automation.
- Bachelor’s degree required; SHRM CP or SHRM SCP highly preferred.
- Law firm or professional services HR experience highly preferred.
