We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of human resources operations within our organization. This role requires a proactive individual with strong attention to detail and expertise in employee relations, talent management, compliance, and benefits administration. Based in Altadena, California, this position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in both strategic and operational HR functions.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and execute key HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and terminations.
• Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and legal requirements.
• Administer union agreements, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining terms and state regulations for journeyman-to-apprentice ratios.
• Serve as an intermediary between management and union representatives, addressing concerns and fostering communication.
• Organize and oversee drug testing processes and maintain accurate union reporting, benefits, and wage compliance.
• Support the resolution of grievances and disciplinary actions in collaboration with management and legal counsel.
• Coordinate incident investigations and follow-up procedures alongside the Safety Officer to ensure compliance with safety standards and workers' compensation.
• Partner with department managers to identify staffing needs and oversee full-cycle recruitment for office roles.
• Direct onboarding, orientation, and training initiatives for both office and field employees.
• Ensure accurate payroll processing and manage benefits programs, including health, retirement, profit-sharing, and union benefits.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources management or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of employee relations practices and HR administration.
• Proficiency in HRIS and other human resources systems.
• Experience managing compensation, benefits, and payroll functions.
• Proven ability to handle onboarding and recruitment processes effectively.
• Familiarity with compliance standards and labor laws, particularly in construction or union environments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with employees at all levels.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and documentation.
