Director of Human Resources (On-site | Herndon, VA)

We’re partnering with a rapidly scaling healthcare services organization to hire a Director of Human Resources to lead and strengthen U.S. HR operations. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in growth, ambiguity, and execution.
This team needs a true HR leader who’s been in the trenches, not someone who’s only owned one slice of HR. The right person can confidently speak to compliance, payroll/benefits, onboarding, and employee relations based on real experience (not theory).
What you’ll own
- Lead and develop a U.S.-based HR team (3–5 employees)
- Oversee payroll (ADP), benefits administration (broker-supported), and HR operations
- Drive end-to-end HR lifecycle: onboarding, employee relations, performance management, offboarding
- Ensure compliance with U.S. employment laws and HR best practices: including I-9 / E-Verify
- Partner closely with operations leadership to support periods of heavy hiring and workforce scaling
- Serve as a visible, trusted HR leader for a ~500-employee U.S. population
What they’re looking for
- 8+ years HR experience with 3+ years in leadership
- Strong foundation across HR operations (not just benefits or payroll)
- Working knowledge of HR compliance + documentation (I-9/E-Verify experience is important)
- Comfortable in fast-growing, evolving environments where processes are still being built
- Proactive, execution-focused, and confident operating with senior leaders
Work setup & compensation
- Herndon, VA | 4 days on-site, 1 remote day (Friday)
- Typical hours: 9:30am–5:30pm (flexibility possible for the right hire)
- Business casual office + free parking
- Base salary $130K–$150K
- Benefits include medical, 401(k), and PTO (2 weeks standard)
