Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on HR Manager to fully own both HR and payroll functions for a group of affiliated companies totaling approximately 100 employees. This role requires a self-sufficient professional who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to process weekly payroll while also elevating HR operations, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing HR and payroll in a multi-company environment, be well-versed in employment laws and payroll tax requirements, and possess a solid understanding of ACA compliance and benefits administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll & Compliance
- Process weekly payroll accurately for multiple companies.
- Manage payroll tax liabilities, filings (quarterly/annual), and year-end W-2s.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and employment regulations.
- Maintain accurate employee records and reporting in alignment with legal requirements.
HR Functions
- Lead full-cycle hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
- Handle employee relations matters and provide HR support to leadership and staff.
- Manage benefits administration, including health insurance, ACA compliance, and 401(k) programs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and handbooks to ensure consistency and legal compliance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on HR best practices and workforce management.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of HR and payroll experience, ideally in a multi-company or multi-entity environment.
- Strong understanding of payroll tax requirements, compliance, and employment law.
- Experience with benefits administration, including health insurance and 401(k) compliance.
- Familiarity with ACA compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional certifications (CPP, SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.) preferred.
Compensation range: $75,000-85,000
