The Human Resources Department is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team! This role is critical to HR operations as is has direct focus on day-to-day Employee Life Cycle activities across Compliance, Performance Management, Employee Labor Relations and Policy. You will have a chance to work in a quick-paced, yet collaborative and a customer-service orientated culture that is focused on supporting employees in the following city departments: Fire, Police, Finance, and Planning. With a direct focus on Public Safety (Fire/Police) this role will serve as the Civil Service Chief Examiner. This position is full-time, FLSA non-exempt, with a general schedule of Monday through Friday.

About The Job
As the HR Generalist, you will serve as first point of contact for all customers (customer intake) and triage all other HR inquiries outside of the following main HR functional areas:
- Employee Lifecycle: Lead On/Off boarding duties, guide and support employee development and retention efforts.
- Employee and Labor Relations: Serve as first point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns. Support conflict resolution and grievance handling. Ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies. Participate in Labor meetings as needed.
- Compliance and Policy: Provide general HR guidance to employees and supervisors. Ensure compliance with labor laws and internal HR policies. Assist with policy creation, updates and communication.
- Performance Management: Coordinate performance review processes. Track and document performance issues. Support employees at all levels with development plans. Help identify training needs and recommend solutions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business, Finance, or related field; and
- Three (3) or more years of directly related experience
- Any combination equivalent of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
