A rapidly growing, multi-unit operator in the restaurant and/or retail industry is seeking a dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead HR strategy and operations across our expanding footprint. This is a high-impact role reporting directly to the President, with responsibility for driving talent initiatives, strengthening compliance, and cultivating a performance-driven, people-first culture.
About the Role
As the Director of HR, you’ll oversee all core human resources functions for a geographically dispersed workforce. You’ll lead an administrative HR team and serve as a trusted advisor to both field and executive leadership. This role is ideal for a hands-on HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-touch, service-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding for all levels of the organization.
- Oversee compensation and benefits administration, annual merit reviews, and market benchmarking.
- Manage all leave and accommodation programs (FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Comp, STD/LTD).
- Serve as the escalation point for employee relations, performance issues, and conflict resolution across units.
- Ensure HR compliance with federal, state, and local laws; oversee audits, unemployment claims, and investigations.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, and company-wide communication strategies.
- Advise and partner with field and store-level leadership on staffing, retention, org planning, and employee development.
- Oversee HRIS systems, employee data integrity, and personnel record-keeping.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a small administrative HR team to support day-to-day HR functions.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3+ years in a multi-unit restaurant, QSR, or retail environment.
- Strong understanding of HR operations, employment law, compliance, and labor practices.
- Proven experience navigating complex employee relations, performance management, and leave administration.
- Effective communicator, coach, and cross-functional partner with high emotional intelligence.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence at all levels—from frontline to executive.
- Experience mentoring and managing HR support teams.
- Highly organized and able to juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or Portuguese strongly preferred.
- Experience with HRIS systems and digital onboarding tools.
