Job Summary:
The Director of Human Resources is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all HR-related functions across a large multi-unit organization in the restaurant or retail industry. This individual will lead HR operations, support leadership, ensure compliance, and foster a positive workplace culture. The role manages a small administrative team and reports directly to the President.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage full-cycle HR functions, including talent acquisition, onboarding, and offboarding
Oversee compensation, benefits, and annual merit increases
Administer leave programs (FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Comp, STD/LTD)
Address employee relations matters, performance coaching, and conflict resolution
Maintain HR compliance and manage audits and employment claims
Develop and update HR policies, employee handbook, and internal communications
Advise field and store-level leadership on HR matters and workforce planning
Manage HR systems, employee records, and data accuracy
Lead and support administrative HR staff to ensure efficient daily operations
Qualifications:
8+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a QSR, restaurant, or multi-unit retail environment
Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance standards
Effective communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, people-driven culture
Experience managing or mentoring administrative personnel
PHR or SHRM certification preferred but not required
Local candidate required; full-time in-office presence
Bilingual in English and Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
