A large-scale, guest-focused hospitality and entertainment organization is seeking a hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead and evolve its HR function in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This organization operates in a highly dynamic setting that hosts major events, seasonal programming, and large public crowds, requiring an HR leader who thrives can pivot quickly and enjoys being involved in daily operations.
This is not a highly corporate or heavily layered environment. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, visible, and operationally engaged while also helping shape long-term people strategy. The organization is seeking a collaborative leader who can build teams, strengthen recruiting efforts, support employee relations, and develop a more strategic HR infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all human resources functions including employee relations, recruiting, training, performance management, compliance, compensation, and organizational development
- Serve as a trusted advisor and operational partner to leadership teams across multiple departments
- Build and implement proactive recruiting strategies and external talent pipelines
- Oversee leadership-level hiring and succession planning initiatives
- Develop and mentor an early-career HR team, adding structure, accountability, and professional development
- Manage employee relations matters including investigations, grievances, and conflict resolution
- Act as liaison for union-related matters and maintain positive labor-management relationships
- Lead onboarding, employee engagement, and workforce planning initiatives
- Maintain HR policies, job descriptions, employee handbook, and compliance programs
- Support change management efforts tied to organizational growth and operational needs
- Partner with leadership on workforce strategy in a seasonal, high-volume staffing environment
- Oversee HRIS/payroll collaboration and HR operational processes
Ideal Background
- Experience within hospitality, entertainment, tourism, attractions, theme parks, large venues, or other high-volume guest service environments
- Strong employee relations and labor relations experience
- Proven ability to balance strategic initiatives with hands-on execution
- Experience developing and coaching less experienced HR teams
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving, less structured environments where priorities shift quickly
- Background supporting seasonal or hourly workforces preferred
- ADP experience strongly preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
- Experience overseeing recruiting, training, employee relations, and compliance
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- PHR/SPHR certification preferred
