This is a highly visible executive role reporting directly to the CEO.
Job Description:
The Director of Human Resources will provide executive-level leadership across all HR functions, with a strong emphasis on multi-state compliance, risk management, and organizational strategy. This role will serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, ensuring HR practices align with business goals while maintaining strict adherence to employment laws and regulations. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in compliance, strong leadership capabilities, and experience operating in complex, multi-state environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developed and executed enterprise-wide HR strategies aligned with organizational growth and regulatory requirements
- Served as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team on workforce strategy, compliance, and organizational design
- Ensured full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple jurisdictions
- Led internal audits, investigations, and responses to regulatory inquiries while mitigating organizational risk
- Established and standardized HR policies, governance frameworks, and best practices across all locations
- Oversaw employee relations, ensuring consistent and compliant handling of performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Drove talent acquisition, workforce planning, and retention strategies to support business growth
- Designed and implemented employee engagement and organizational development initiatives
- Directed compensation and benefits strategies, ensuring competitive, equitable, and compliant programs
- Partnered with finance and payroll to ensure accurate wage practices and regulatory compliance
- Oversaw HRIS systems, data reporting, and analytics to support decision-making and compliance
- Led, developed, and mentored the HR team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s or JD preferred
- 7–15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including executive-level responsibility
- Deep expertise in multi-state employment law, compliance, and risk management
- Strong background in healthcare or other highly regulated industries
- Proven experience leading audits, investigations, and complex employee relations matters
- Experience designing compensation structures and conducting pay equity analysis
- Demonstrated success building HR infrastructure and processes in multi-state environments
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification required (highly preferred)
