The Opportunity
We are seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of all Human Resources functions while supporting strategic initiatives that align with MVE’s business objectives.
This position plays a key role in fostering a positive employee experience across multiple locations, with a strong emphasis on California employment law compliance. The HR Manager will oversee core HR functions including employee relations, performance management, compliance, and talent acquisition, including direct oversight of a Recruiter. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational execution with strategic partnership.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage and execute HR strategies, policies, and programs that support organizational goals.
- Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
- Lead Talent Acquisition efforts, including managing and developing a Recruiter, workforce planning, and hiring strategies.
- Partner with leadership to identify talent needs and implement effective recruitment and retention strategies.
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, with a strong focus on California labor laws (e.g., wage and hour, meal/rest breaks, leave laws, and terminations).
- Administer and improve HR systems, processes, and policies to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
- Track and analyze HR metrics (KPIs) to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.
- Support compensation and benefits administration, ensuring competitive and compliant practices.
- Partner cross-functionally with leadership, operations, and finance teams to align HR initiatives with business needs.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work culture.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- PHR or SPHR certification preferred
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within the transportation or logistics industry
- Demonstrated experience supporting California-based employees and employment law compliance required
- Experience in multi-site, multi-state environments preferred
- Hands-on experience managing talent acquisition functions and recruiting teams
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, OSHA regulations, and workers’ compensation
Compensation
- Compensation: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually, based on experience and location.
- Classification: Exempt, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.
- Ability to navigate each department and the company’s facilities as needed.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% to support multi-site operations
