Director of Human Resources – Multi-Site Manufacturing
Location: West Suburbs of Chicago (multi-site environment)
Overview
We are partnering with a manufacturing business on a Director of Human Resources search. The company operates a multi-site platform across several states.
Following a period of strong growth and recent acquisitions, the business is entering its next phase of operational maturity. This role will be instrumental in building scalable HR infrastructure and partnering closely with executive leadership and plant teams to support continued growth.
The Role
This is a hands-on HR leadership role with broad ownership across a multi-site manufacturing environment. The Director of HR will partner closely with the C-Suite and site leadership to drive consistency, accountability, and performance across the organization.
Key areas of focus include:
- Leading HR for a multi-location manufacturing platform
- Partnering with plant leadership on workforce planning, employee relations, and performance management
- Strengthening HR systems, processes, and reporting capabilities (including HRIS/payroll optimization)
- Driving organizational design, talent planning, and leadership development initiatives
- Ensuring compliance across a multi-state, hourly workforce environment
- Supporting ongoing growth, including integration of acquired businesses
Profile
We are seeking a high-impact HR leader who thrives in a hands-on, operational environment.
Key experience includes:
- Multi-site HR leadership within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong background supporting hourly workforces and plant operations
- Proven ability to build and scale HR processes, systems, and infrastructure
- Deep experience across employee relations, compliance, payroll, and benefits
- Executive presence with the ability to influence senior leadership and site-level operators
- Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth environments is a plus
