Human Resources Director

Job Summary
The Human Resources Director will serve as the senior HR leader for a multi‑location organization within the agriculture and manufacturing space. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution and is responsible for overseeing all HR functions across approximately 150 employees. The HR Director will act as the sole HR resource, partnering closely with ownership and senior leadership to ensure compliance, strengthen employee relations, and support a predominantly blue‑collar workforce across multiple facilities.
This is a full-time, exempt position requiring a confident, self‑directed HR professional who is comfortable operating independently and engaging at all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Compliance
- Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business objectives and operational needs
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws (including FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, DOT, EEOC, immigration and visa regulations such as H‑2A)
- Maintain and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures
- Serve as the internal subject‑matter expert on employment law, risk mitigation, and HR best practices
- Partner with ownership on workforce planning, organizational structure, and succession planning
Recruitment, Onboarding & Retention
- Lead full‑cycle recruitment for exempt and non‑exempt roles across operations, maintenance, logistics, and administration
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, and training programs
- Manage employee engagement and retention initiatives
- Support seasonal and international labor programs and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Compensation, Benefits & HR Systems
- Administer compensation structures, job classifications, and pay analysis
- Oversee benefits administration and annual open enrollment with third‑party vendors
- Review and reconcile payroll data and address payroll‑related questions (limited hands‑on payroll involvement)
- Manage and optimize HRIS and timekeeping systems (Paycom experience preferred)
Employee Relations & Development
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees on performance management, corrective action, and employee concerns
- Conduct workplace investigations with discretion and consistency
- Support leadership development, training initiatives, and employee recognition programs
- Foster a respectful, compliant, and inclusive workplace culture
Safety, Risk & Reporting
- Partner with operations to oversee safety programs and workers' compensation claims
- Track and analyze HR metrics such as turnover, attendance, and compliance reporting
- Prepare HR reports and insights for ownership and leadership teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- SHRM certification (SHRM‑CP or SHRM‑SCP) strongly preferred
- 7-10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Background supporting blue‑collar or front‑line workforces
- Industry experience in agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, hospitality, or similar environments strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of employment laws in North and South Carolina
- Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with day‑to‑day HR execution
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both executive leadership and non‑technical employees
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred but not required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms
Compensation
- Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000 annually
