The
Director of Human Resources serves as a key member of the EMT (Gatan and EDAX) Executive Management Team, partnering closely with leadership to shape, influence, and execute the business’s annual strategic plan. This senior‑level role, based in Warrendale, PA, plays a pivotal part in driving organizational direction, strengthening operational performance, and supporting the profitable growth of a multi‑site business unit with operations in Warrendale and an R&D facility in Pleasanton, CA. Travel between locations will be required.
Reporting directly to the EMT DVP & Business Unit Manager, with a strong dotted‑line connection to the Materials Analysis Division Vice President of Human Resources, this role operates at the intersection of strategy, culture, and execution. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the successful talent acquisition and development process across the business
- Work closely with managers to provide expertise and hands-on support in multiple areas including talent, workforce planning, onboarding, employee retention, employee relations, management coaching, performance management, and change management
- Advise and coach managers on HR policies and programs including employee relations matters
- Lead the employee on-boarding and off-boarding process
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement
- Recommend improvements to policies, programs, and procedures related to the effectiveness of the HR function
- Conduct thorough and objective investigations as needed, assess risk and determines appropriate course of action, working closely with the Manager and legal as appropriate
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
- Track and analyze metrics on talent, employee actions, terminations, and voluntary attrition to recommend actions as needed
Requirements For Consideration
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6+ years of HR experience
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local employment regulations
- Talent-focused mindset
- Goal-driven, self-starter with exceptional written and oral communication skills and an ability to handle interpersonal matters tact and diplomacy
- Ability to establish rapport with all levels of employees within the organization
- Must have the ability to multitask with strong time/priority management skills
Preferred
- Master’s Degree with 10+ years of HR experience preferred
- HR Leadership experience within the manufacturing industry preferred
