Regional Healthcare Human Resources Director
Direct Hire | Full-Time
Location: Texas (Preferred: Dallas or Austin area)
Primary Office: Plano, TX (when not traveling)
Travel: Extensive – 60–80% (3–4 days per week or ~3 weeks per month)
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $165,000 – $170,000
- Bonus: 20% target
- Relocation Assistance: Available (must be willing to relocate to Dallas, TX)
Position Summary
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Regional Human Resources Director to provide strategic and operational HR leadership across multiple healthcare facilities throughout Texas. This senior-level role reports directly to the EVP, Human Resources / Chief People Officer and is responsible for overseeing HR operations, driving workforce initiatives, and ensuring consistent application of HR policies across a multi-site environment.
The Regional HR Director serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, hospital administrators, and HR teams, supporting employee relations, compliance, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee HR operations across multiple hospital locations.
- Develop and manage HR metrics and reporting related to turnover, engagement, recruitment, and workforce trends.
- Provide strategic guidance on employee relations, performance management, and progressive discipline.
- Coach and mentor HR Directors and site leadership on investigations, documentation, and employee communication.
- Identify workforce trends and partner with leadership to implement corrective action and retention strategies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Joint Commission standards, and federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Lead HR audits and compliance reviews across assigned facilities.
- Support workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
- Partner with Risk Management on workers’ compensation claims, investigations, and risk mitigation.
- Serve as a trusted HR advisor to operational leaders in a fast-paced, highly regulated healthcare environment.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience.
- Strong preference for healthcare or multi-site HR leadership experience.
Demonstrated experience in:
- Employee relations and investigations
- HR operations and compliance
- Workforce analytics and reporting
- Multi-site or field HR support
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong knowledge of employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, state labor laws).
- Proven ability to lead and influence across multiple locations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage complex employee relations issues with professionalism and discretion.
- Experience leading change management initiatives.
- Results-driven mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Certifications & Additional Requirements
- Ability to complete CPR certification.
- Completion of organization-approved behavioral health de-escalation training.
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 75%).
- Ability to work in a 24/7 healthcare environment as needed.
