We are seeking an experienced HR Strategic Advisor who can align human capital with business objectives while also supporting the firm’s intellectual property (IP) portfolio and processes.
Position Summary:
The HR Strategic Advisor will play a dual role: serving as a trusted partner to firm leadership in shaping and executing human resources strategies, and supporting the intellectual property function through coordination, process management, and compliance oversight. This individual will ensure that the firm’s HR practices drive employee engagement, talent retention, and professional development, while also maintaining the protection and management of intellectual property assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Strategy & Advisory
- Partner with firm leadership to develop HR strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide counsel on workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning.
- Oversee performance management, employee relations, and compliance with employment law.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Support professional development and training programs tailored to a law firm environment.
- Advise on compensation, benefits, and total rewards strategies.
Intellectual Property Support
- Coordinate with attorneys to manage IP filings, renewals, and compliance deadlines.
- Maintain organized records of trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual property assets.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper documentation and protection of intellectual property.
- Research and advise on best practices for IP risk management and compliance.
- Serve as a point of contact for IP-related questions from clients and staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; advanced degree or HR certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a professional services or legal environment.
- Knowledge of intellectual property processes, filings, and compliance.
- Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and database management.
