Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in Brentwood, are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join their Executive Leadership Team and help guide their people into this next phase. This is not just a compliance role, it's a pivotal leadership position. They need an HR professional who can balance hands-on day-to-day operations with the strategic foresight needed to shape HR into a function that supports growth, engagement, and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Leadership: Create and implement a forward-looking HR strategy that aligns with organizational goals during this period of leadership transition
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Oversee full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes to attract top talent while maintaining the company's culture of loyalty and teamwork
- Talent Development: Build and manage programs for training, career progression, and leadership development
- Employee Engagement & Retention: Champion initiatives that foster a positive, professional, and high-performing workplace culture
- Performance Management & Compliance: Develop and implement performance management tools and ensure compliance with California labor laws, safety regulations, and company policies
- Compensation & Benefits: Oversee benefits administration and help maintain competitive, equitable pay and recognition programs
- Employee Relations: Act as a trusted resource for employees and managers, supporting fair resolution of workplace matters
- Leadership Succession: Partner with leadership to guide the company through its first generational leadership transition with steadiness and confidence
- Organizational Design: Support and inform organizational structure changes as needed to support strategic growth objectives
- Team Management: Directly supervise 2-3 HR team members, including mentoring and development
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 10-15 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles in a mid-size or larger corporate environment
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute HR strategy while effectively managing daily HR operations
- Strong working knowledge of California employment law, compliance requirements, and HR best practices
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills with the ability to earn trust across all organizational levels
- Proven success leading organizational change and building HR systems from the ground up
- Broad HR generalist expertise across recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and benefits administration
- Experience managing multiple priorities with professionalism, discretion, and strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
- Experience managing and developing direct reports
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced HR certification (PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP)
- Previous HR experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with compliance audits, labor postings, and 401(k) administration
- Familiarity with the unique dynamics of family-owned or founder-led companies
- Spanish language skills (conversational or better)
- Experience supporting companies through leadership transitions or significant organizational change
Benefits
Base Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
Performance Bonus: Profit-based annual bonus opportunity
