Position Overview
The Director of Human Resources and Administration serves as a strategic leader responsible for guiding all people-related functions and administrative operations. This role plays a key part in shaping organizational culture, enhancing workforce effectiveness, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and internal policies. The Director partners closely with executive leadership to drive talent strategy, foster employee engagement, and optimize HR systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement long-term human capital strategies aligned with business goals.
- Oversee the full spectrum of HR operations, including talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, performance management, and employee development.
- Lead efforts in succession planning, workforce analytics, and employee retention initiatives. Drive leadership development and coaching across the organization.
- Provide guidance on complex employee issues, ensure consistent application of policies, and foster a workplace environment that prioritizes respect, inclusion, and compliance.
- Stay abreast of evolving employment laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels. Lead internal audits and partner with legal counsel on employment-related matters, including regulatory filings and investigations.
- Evaluate current programs for competitiveness and effectiveness. Manage vendor relationships, negotiate service agreements, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation such as ERISA and ACA.
- Direct administrative functions including office management, corporate record-keeping, policy documentation, and coordination with the Board of Directors.
- Serve as a liaison to the Board, including preparing meeting materials, recording minutes, and maintaining confidential records in line with corporate governance standards.
- Champion inclusive hiring practices and support compliance with Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity requirements. Lead training initiatives and reporting efforts in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Utilize HRIS and other digital tools to streamline operations, enhance reporting, and support data-informed decision-making.
- Partner with the CEO and CFO on cross-functional initiatives, driving results through structured project planning, clear communication, and execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree or HR certification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with proven ability to lead HR functions in a dynamic or regulated environment.
- Experience with benefits administration, labor compliance, and 401(k) management.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and ITAR compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization and act as a trusted advisor to leadership
