Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm, has been engaged by a confidential construction firm to conduct a search for an HR Manager in Raleigh-Durham.
This company is a well-established grading and utility contractor that has projects across North Carolina. As the organization continues to grow, it is seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to lead human resources operations, support employee engagement, and oversee critical people processes across both field and office environments.
This is a dynamic, people-first role that blends day-to-day HR operations with strategic support, recruiting, and culture-building initiatives in a fast-paced construction setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and administer company benefits programs, ensuring employees have a clear understanding of offerings during onboarding and throughout employment.
- Partner with the Safety Department on workplace accidents, workers’ compensation claims, and incident follow-up.
- Coordinate and conduct phone screens and interviews – particularly for operators, truck drivers, and field staff.
- Manage the onboarding and orientation process for all new hires, ensuring a smooth integration into the company.
- Support and coach managers and employees on employee relations, resolving workplace issues with professionalism and empathy.
- Serve as backup for payroll processing as needed.
- Help manage a drug testing program, maintaining compliance and consistency across the organization.
- Contribute to internal communication and recruiting branding efforts, including support for LinkedIn and website content.

Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or similarly hands-on environments.
- Strong understanding of benefits administration, workers' compensation, and general HR compliance.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required
- Comfortable handling employee relations, including conflict resolution and performance conversations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a flexible, people-first approach.
- Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion, empathy, and sound judgment.
